New York Fashion week has been anything but dull. The typical fashion week has overridden fashion “rules” by both bringing back old trends from previous decades as well as creating brand new ones.

A new “See now-buy now,” trend has hit the fashion industry. Instead of viewers having to wait up to six months for merchandise from the fashion shows to hit the market, brands such as Tommy Hilfiger and Burberry are offering their clothes in booths directly outside of their corresponding venues.

Kendall Jenner, Karlie Kloss, and Gigi Hadid are just a few of the celebrities who walked in the various shows during New York Fashion Week. Plus-sized model Ashley Graham made history by walking in the Michael Kors fashion show on February 14.

The fashion industry is bringing back trends from previous decades and revamping them for a more modern appeal. Animal print platform shoes along with oversized shirts and pants have made a surprising comeback. Bright red lips, one most everyone expected to see a lot of, were rare. Political statements and fringe lay beyond each and every corner, along with velvet and suede.

Bright and bold colors in kaleidoscopic patterns such as those worn by Blake Lively and Victoria Beckham will hit the industry by storm in Fall 2017. Rainbow patterns mirroring the typical 80’s wear were also in abundance, juxtaposing the typical fall/winter fashion of dark and subtle colors and patterns.

The next New York Fashion Week will begin September 7 and will display fashion lines for Spring and Summer of 2018. Designers and Companies holding shows cannot yet be confirmed at this time.
