The crowd is silent; it’s free-throw time. This is known as one of the easiest shots in the game, but at times can be the most stressful. However, the Varsity girls’ basketball team were able to keep their cool and pull of a win against Spring Woods on January 10.

The varsity girls Basketball team has been working hard this year in hopes of improving from last year’s season. They have 16 wins and only 6 losses. Their coach is hoping to continue their success throughout the rest of the season.

“With hard work and dedication we hope to emulate the success we had last year”, Coach Bendick said, “and push even harder to excel past how last year ended.”

The basketball girls as a whole like to think of themselves as family. They plan on working as hard as they can to keep each other responsible for their job on the court.

“My team is my family”, junior Maria Barbalich said, “They keep me responsible. We have all gotten so close over the years, and I love being able to play every day with them.”

The JV team has been working on their defense trying to make it stronger and stronger. The girls want to work hard so that they don’t let each other done when it is game time.

“Being able to defend on my team is the best,” sophomore Lubna Suied said, “We work so hard together because we don’t want to let each other down.”

The freshmen team are getting adjusted to high school basketball. Some are surprised at how aggressive it can get and others have prepared all summer. They look forward to every game in hopes of improving from the last and never letting the team get down on themselves.

“I didn’t really know what to expect in basketball”, freshman Kamille Dixon said, “I was super excited when I saw I made the team and hope to continue improving on and off the court.”
